Innovation projects begin without a predefined path: uncertainty about both the journey and the outcome is part of innovation itself. However, this does not mean working without method or structure.
At KYMA TEAM, we have developed and tested a four-phase roadmap: Establish, Explore, Elect and Execute.
The four phases
-
1. Establish: define the innovation needs and ensure alignment between the project’s innovation objectives and the company’s strategic vision. This is the phase in which the project’s strategic innovation direction is defined.
-
2. Explore: explore innovation trends in adjacent and other sectors, and understand unmet customer needs and insights. This is the opening phase of the project.
-
3. Elect: develop creative ideas and scenarios inspired by the findings from the previous phase. This is the stage in which options begin to be narrowed down and selected.
-
4. Execute: prototype through PoCs, test and implement the ideas defined and selected in the previous phase. This is the stage in which execution and experimentation begin.
-
The four phases are repeated through successive sprints until an innovative and successful solution is achieved.
